Ammolites, also known as gem ammonites, calcentine and korite, are rare ammonite fossils with iridescent shells. The fossilized shell is mostly Aragonite, a common mineral found in sea animals. The rare fossil is one of three gems considered biogenic gemstones including only amber and pearl. Ammonites, ancestor of the modern day nautilus, existed between 388 million years ago to 66 million years ago.
